What is my experience from being a doTERRA wellness advocate?

I have been a doTERRA wellness advocate for about seven years with no regrets. DoTERRA is in my opinion a part of the new type of network marketing companies that have appeared over the last few years. What I mean by that is that many of the older MLM companies are still left in the past with frankly, old and in many cases illegal business practises. This has made many who otherwise would have been interested in starting a home business to be weary. Fortunately, doTERRA has a very different mindset that has allowed it to flourish and grow globally. The growth of doTERRA is much a do with the company being probably the most honest and transparent brand in the MLM industry.

Unlike many MLM companies where the product takes a smaller role, doTERRA products do not. Their high quality essential oils have a massive following and customer base. Also, unlike other network marketing companies, the individuals who decide to run doTERRA as a business are relatively small. The majority of the doTERRA membership are retail or wholesale customers. This means that anyone with ambitions to become successful as a doTERRA wellness advocate can do so with more ease than most other companies.

What are the main methods for a doTERRA distributor?

I get asked this question a lot and there is not really one answer.

There is of course:

• Simply using their essential oils and other products
• Running essential oils classes
• Doing trade shows
• Running online training
• Or my preferred method - running doTERRA online

doTERRA does offer training for its members but there is a limited amount of information on how to run doTERRA as an online business. In this case I have written an eBook called "Beginners guide to online prospecting in network marketing" by Steven Jackson.

What do I like best about being a doTERRA wellness advocate?

This is not going to be for everyone, but for me, the ability to be able to run a business that originally cost me 35$ and that I can do from anywhere in the world is so cool. As long as I have an internet connection I can work anywhere. In addition, the products are so sellable that I do not need to stress about how I am going to unload their essential oils. Customers already understand the quality and power of doTERRA essential oils so I do not need to convince anyone on what they are getting. The third thing I like about doTERRA is that when I speak to new members that tell me they have never worked in the MLM industry before. They have joined because of the oils and now understand that it is possible to make some extra money.

What do I not like about being a doTERRA wellness advocate?

Is this a criticism? Not really, from my experience there is no dark side of doTERRA. However, a product such as essential oils attracts a type of individual to the doTERRA membership. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing. It does allow to some existent to identify who would be interested in what doTERRA has to offer. As an example, I attended the doTERRA convention in London, UK a few years ago. I would say that the ratio between men and women was 97% women. Out of that 97% the percentage of yoga teachers, reiki therapists and aromatherapists was substantial.

What is the final word in this doTERRA review?

On the positive side, if you are a man considering doTERRA as a business option but feel a bit overwhelmed, look at doTERRA as an opportunity. And if you are a woman, doTERRA is the perfect business opportunity where you can feel the empowering effects of other women being successful.
