I Wanted To Sell A PDF Documents Online

I wanted to offer it online. My challenge was first how to share snippets of the document to entice the reader. And, once enticed, how to collect payment without putting the prospective buyer through too many marketing hoops.

I think the FlipGuardian developers read my mind. Like they say, they saw me coming. I felt I had found the solution, it would save me time and money and it did not break my bank. Then when I was done, and tested it, I asked for a refund.

So why am I reviewing it?

I will tell you in a minute but first let me share what I liked about the software.

The pricing model was different in that the small payment allowed access for a year with annual renewals. You don't know me, (even I consider myself cheap) and for me the price was right.

I also appreciated that I was not hit with a ton of upgrades and OTOs that promised to make the software more powerful. And, what you get is not a stripped down version. There was an upgrade but it did not affect performance of the software.

The awesomeness of the software allows you to quickly create a sales page with a link to your published and gated pdf document. The prospective buyer is prevented from viewing all of the document but is able to view whatever you choose to share. It allows you to attach a price to view the entire document with a payment gateway to collect payments.

I was absolutely excited because I wanted to sell a pdf document I had personally created. Setting up was a breeze. I am no software genius but it did not take long. I set it up and thought I had everything ready so I put it on trial. Clicked the purchase button and...

Boom, nothing happened, an error message.

Now this is the part that led me to ask for a refund.

I did not set up a payment gateway. No problem I opened it up and realized that the software only worked with Stripe I believe they had hopes of integrating with another payment gateway but they are still working on it.

As it turns out, Stripe does not service my country of residence. I connected with the support folks and they advised that there is "no work around". Advice to all, before you get this software find out if you country of residence is serviced by the Stripe Payment Gateway.

My recommendation is that if you are in any way involved in publishing pdf content online in the form of books, papers, articles, check it out, using it will save you a great deal of time. It is definitely worth the investment.

I could only give it a 4 star because of my experience with having to get a refund.
