You could barely see what you were typing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See the example below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\" src=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editororiginal-300x192.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1932\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editororiginal-300x192.png 300w, https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editororiginal.png 406w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We explored a few ideas to fix this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first, we thought about replicating the background of the page, content block, and row inside the editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"194\" src=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorbg-300x194.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorbg-300x194.png 300w, https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorbg.png 403w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sounds clever? It turned out to be more troublesome than it was worth. The logic behind recreating the exact background was complex, unreliable, and simply impractical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then we considered adding a toggle to switch the editor background to black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" src=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editordark-300x197.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1934\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editordark-300x197.png 300w, https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editordark.png 403w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While that helped with readability for light-colored text, it is manual and unintuitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventually, we landed on the most practical solution, one that is already used by many modern page builders, for good reason!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an inline text editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1047\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorinline.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1935\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorinline.png 1047w, https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorinline-300x128.png 300w, https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorinline-1024x438.png 1024w, https:\/\/leadsleap.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/editorinline-768x329.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1047px) 100vw, 1047px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of using a separate editor, you now edit your text directly on the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s no need to guess the background or toggle background color.
